The importance of social media in primary education

Post by Bappy10 »

It is common knowledge that social media are hip & happening . We saw it coming before it was even that far. However, education is not keeping up very well. That is not really #breaking news either. But of course that does not absolve us from helping to further develop education, at all levels. Because social media can be of enormous added value in education. In fact: they should be inextricably linked to it.

In the context of education, Social Media Club Amsterdam organized a theme meeting on Wednesday, February 15 (in the Lloyd Hotel, a place with a special history) with the central question: 'How can primary schools and universities make social media part of the curriculum?'

The first substantive session (about social media in primary education) was given by Sanne Kuyt, educational employee brother cell phone list at the Creative Learning Lab of WAAG Society (and former teacher in primary education). He develops digital workshop material for primary schools and advises organizations on the application of social media. He put himself in the role of a primary school administrator and outlined how social media should be introduced in his opinion. What I found appealing (and recognizable) in his story, was that he also emphasized that young students often know better than teachers how online tools work.
