Problems with BIM perception

Post by thouhidul32 »

It may seem that the problems of implementing and scaling BIM technologies in Russian companies have only begun to be raised in recent years, but this is not so. The National Chamber of Engineers (NPI) has been discussing these issues for over ten years.

“And it seems that it is worth returning to them again,” said Vladimir Malakhov, Vice President of NPI, at the 2024 Summe saudi arabia phone number r BIM Forum. So that the next generation of professionals knows what their predecessors faced and how the industry developed in the past.

Current state of BIM technologies
The expert admitted that after listening to other speakers at the BIM forum, he got the impression that BIM technologies are still viewed skeptically in Russia. Thus, the report on recent changes in legislation led him to the idea that a normal builder would be better off abandoning BIM altogether and returning to traditional methods. We wrote about these innovations in more detail in this article .

Everything related to Russian legislation is really complicated and often has no direct relation to BIM. Moreover, due to the bureaucratization of construction processes, using BIM is becoming even more difficult and expensive.

Another speaker at the forum noted that the state has finally begun to pay attention to artificial intelligence. In his opinion, this gives hope for some easing of pressure on those involved in BIM. But in reality, Malakhov noted, on the contrary, they are now trying to integrate AI into BIM, which only worsens the situation.

There are two main approaches to the perception of BIM.

Approach #1
The first group of specialists concentrates on design, considering BIM as a graphic tool and paying attention to software tools like CAD. The vice-president of NPI noted that, in his opinion, too much time is spent on this and in a few years our systems like nanoCAD, Renga, Model Studio CS, etc. will be able to fully compete with foreign giants Autodesk, Bentley, AVEVA, etc.

Vladimir Malakhov also added that for him, modern 3D parametric CAD systems are technologies of the past. The future, he believes, is in verbal systems, where design is carried out using voice commands. Such systems will allow even non-professionals to create several versions of a house project within the framework of current legislation and standards.
