The emergence of the social network par excellence: Facebook (2004)
And, as it could not be otherwise, in 2004, a young university student from Harvard University put the icing on the cake, and created the most important social network in the world today: Facebook . That young student (who today we could easily classify as a "nerd" ) is known as Mark Zuckerberg.
The story of Zuckerberg and how he created Facebook is fascinating: Zuckerberg created, at that time, a portal called Facemash whose purpose was none other than to be able to connect Harvard students with each other, in order to have a virtual place where they could share opinions about who were the most and least attractive people at the University; something that reached the University's management, causing the student to be expelled.
However, his computing skills were so clearly evident in that application that it quickly evolved and grew into what it is today; a social network that already has more than 2.958 million active users per month .
YouTube: the audiovisual phenomenon (2005)
Just one year later, in 2005, a new revolution emerged afghanistan number data which today remains one of the most important social networks: YouTube . A network created by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawn Karim in San Bruno, California. According to legend, the idea of YouTube arose from the difficulties that the 3 young men encountered in sharing a series of videos with their friends, while they were at a party in San Francisco.
On April 23, 2005, the first video was uploaded to the network: « Me at the Zoo », which we show you below:
Me at the zoo
The network was so successful that users from all over the world quickly started uploading all kinds of videos to the network, somewhat losing the original idea of the network. However, traffic shot up even more when users started placing YouTube links on their MySpace pages. The history of YouTube is full of surprising milestones, and it took on a new dimension when it was bought by Google in 2006.
Today, the network has more than 2.5 billion active users .
