What to do when you forget your business cards?

It was not until I was already on the plane, ready to leave, that I remembered that I had forgotten the business cards I had ordered (for urgent delivery) on my desk.POst19img If I could have shouted on the plane I would have. The bad thing was that it was five in the morning and I felt packed like a sardine in the middle seat of a packed flight. You can imagine my reaction when I realized that I had forgotten the business cards I was going to use at an event to encourage people to visit the new QuestionPro interface . DAMN!
And now what?
Well, at that point there wasn't much I could do about the fact that I had forgotten the cards on my desk. The best course of action was to come up with an alternative solution.
The first thing I thought about (the only thing I could do at the time) was why I wanted the cards in the first place. Why were they so important? The answer is that I wanted people to know about and visit the platform, sign up, and get their questions answered.
What can happen now that I'm not tied to business cards?
This is where the fun begins. When the option of giving out business cards disappeared, something very interesting emerged: coming up with solutions that only required the use of my cell phone or iPad.
Email Marketing System. My first option was to create an internal romania phone number in my email marketing system where I could create a list and add people I knew to the list. I could thenPost19img1I would like to email them and move forward in the relationship.
Evernote. This is a great app, it has an option that allows you to take pictures of other people's cards and import them to your contacts almost immediately. BRILLIANT! The best thing is that Evernote is linked to LinkedIn, so instead of waiting to make that connection when you get back to work, you can do it right there.
Take a photo. If you don't want to use Evernote, you can simply take a photo of the cards and add them to your gallery.
Be even MORE proactive and creative
The solutions I just gave you are still very passive in terms of getting information from the person. What would be even more creative and develop a feedback system where you could have a conversation with the people you met?
Create surveys on your mobile device or iPad with the help of QuestionPro mobile app.
One piece of advice I always give is to go to any event or trade show with a purpose, a goal. That is to say, the main advantage of going to an event is to have a specific segment of people all gathered in one place. It would be very expensive and time consuming to go out and meet every single person – just think of the number of people you talk to at a conference or trade show.
